Unboxing and Preparation
  • Confirm the package includes the router, power adapter, Ethernet cable, and Quick Start guide.


Hardware Setup
  1. Connect to the Internet

    • Use the provided Ethernet cable to connect your ONT to the router’s WAN (blue) port.
    • Make sure your ONT is powered on.
  2. Power On the Router

    • Plug the power adapter into the router and connect it to an outlet.
    • Wait for the Power LED to turn solid white or blue (model-dependent).


Initial Configuration
  1. Connect to the Router

    • Use your laptop, smartphone, or tablet to connect to the default Wi-Fi network (SSID) listed on the label under the router.
    • Alternatively, connect via Ethernet to one of the LAN ports.
  2. Access the Web Interface

    • Open a web browser and enter http://router.asus.com or 192.168.50.1.
    • Follow the setup wizard to:
      • Detect your internet type (Dynamic, PPPoE, or Static IP).
      • Configure a new Wi-Fi network name and password.
      • Set an admin username and password for the router interface.
  3. Update Firmware

    • The setup wizard will check for firmware updates. Install any available updates for improved performance and security.


Using the Asus Router App


  1. Download the Asus Router app (iOS/Android).
  2. Follow the app’s step-by-step guide to complete setup and manage settings remotely.


Model-Specific Variations
  • RT-AX58U: Supports faster speeds (AX3000) and additional features like Adaptive QoS for gaming/streaming prioritization.
  • RT-AX68U: Offers advanced traffic management tools like WAN aggregation and detailed traffic analysis, ideal for optimizing speeds and managing multiple high-demand devices.


For these models, the setup process is identical but includes extra configuration options during the setup wizard or within the app.


Advanced Settings (Optional)
  • Enable AiMesh: If adding additional Asus routers to form a mesh system, navigate to Administration > AiMesh in the web interface.
  • Configure Guest Wi-Fi: Set up a separate network for visitors under Wireless > Guest Network.
  • Parental Controls: Manage internet usage under Parental Controls in the interface or app.


Final Steps
  • Test your Wi-Fi connection on multiple devices.
  • Bookmark the router’s login page or save the admin credentials securely.
